"This is an illuminating, kaleidoscopic film about women who are living their faith as well as their leadership abilities. Hannah Heer skillfully conveys the 'voice of a woman.'"
- Annette Insdorf, author and Film Professor, Columbia University, New York

KOL ISHAH: THE RABBI IS A WOMAN opens a window into the world of four diverse women rabbis, women whose spiritual calling has led them on a path traditionally taken by men. “Kol Ishah” means “woman’s voice” in Hebrew. The documentary shows how the rich and complex nature of Judaism enables these four women rabbis to adapt religious texts and passages to reflect their particular experience, and to be able to embrace - and be embraced by – their communities.
